Be able to adjust catalog prices quickly
Many plant growers use weekly lists (catalog prices) in Floriday. Every Thursday morning at 10am, the weekly list closes for the coming week. Prices are fixed for a week at that point. There has always been a desire from growers for these prices to be more real-time by being able to adjust them in the interim. In recent years, this desire has grown even stronger through the COVID period. In practice, growers were found to be turning off their supply due to their inability to adjust prices to the market situation.
Greater security of supply and more reliable supply
For growers, it is important to have more control over product prices in order to set a price closer to the current market situation. For buyers, a realistic price provides more security of supply and a more reliable offer. When the grower is given the ability to adjust this price, you have more assurance that the supply is there. In addition, the supply available is more reliable due to the realistic price offered.
Validation
To respond to plant growers' needs, we are working with growers, buyers and software vendors towards a workable solution for all. For years, plant growers have been working with 'weekly lists'. We are therefore well aware that it can be a big step for the market to adjust prices in the interim. With our approach, we want to start expanding the impact on buyers' systems and processes step-by-step and, by doing so, eventually move towards real-time pricing. In initial discussions, we find that growers and buyers see the benefits, but that it is important for buyers to see when adjustments have been made to the price.
