As soon as you step into Ansu's nursery, you experience the Thai atmosphere and the exclusivity they aim to offer consumers worldwide. Two years ago, Ansu started working through Floriday. Dave Bovenlander, sales manager, talks about the company's growth and how Floriday supports them in this: "We started small and action-oriented, but now the platform is the basis of our sales strategy."
In 1994, one of the owners of Ansu met a breeder in Thailand. Both entrepreneurs shared a passion for unusual flowers and plants, including Vanda, their main product. It was the start of an excellent collaboration.
Unique and distinctive products
Ansu grew into a company with 45 employees, 300 varieties of Vandas and green plants, and annual sales of 6.5 million products. Ansu's distinctive is its wide variety of special trade items. Dave explains, "Our work is quality and service oriented as we continue to develop new assortments and concepts. So we create exclusive green plants, which make beautiful gifts."
Just under 500 supply lines in Floriday
Ansu mainly sells the products directly, with some being auctioned. For flowers in particular, auctions make up the greater percentage of sales. Ansu works with the Floriday screens combined with two software packages. Dave says: "Our main products — Vanda, Tillandsia, Aglaonema and cacti — find buyers in Floriday. We now offer supply lines for about 300 plants and 150 flowers in Floriday. Order processing for the plants takes place through the Olsthoorn software package. The purchase and sale of flowers is through SDF, while internal fulfilment is also through Olsthoorn."
"The basis for our sales"
After joining Ansu two years ago, Dave started working with Floriday himself. "On a small scale at first and a bit more action-oriented. But as our assortment expanded, we utilised Floriday in a different way for our sales. Meanwhile, it forms the basis of our sales strategy. We count our main products once a week and post them in Floriday. Floriday provides us with more visibility for the assortment and stock, and the supply is viewable by all customers."
"Stock planning saves us a whole week"
Due to the vast variety of products, an accurate inventory is essential to Dave's work. He uses stock planning in Floriday for this. This comprehensive function allows growers to manage their stock with precision and efficiency. Dave says, "This function has truly made my job easier because we deal with numerous base items and small quantities, together with high demand. Whereas I would normally spend the whole week counting and selling (or offering) the products, I now do this in half a day thanks to stock planning. This easily saves our business about one to two salespeople. I also find it easy to use Floriday on my phone. This includes turning lines in the greenhouse on or off or changing the quantities in the stock planning."
Viewable by new and multiple customers
"Our wide assortment can now be viewed by new and multiple customers. In the past, the salesperson would go out to showcase the product. Customers now find us through Floriday or come to our garden themselves to see the product. We're also noticing that this enables us to reach customers we did not previously have in our sights, such as several garden centres in the north of the country. Our reach is much wider and we see our plants appearing in more and more places in the Netherlands." In addition, Ansu is always open to specific wishes from buyers. Dave says, "If we can configure things differently in the screens, we're happy to brainstorm for a successful collaboration."
