Audit confirms successful security of confidential and non-traceabledata

As a platform, Floriday provides a secure environment for growers and buyers. Strictly confidential data in Floriday is not shared and transaction data used in reports is not traceable. That is the conclusion from the third independent audit into the Information Policy commissioned by Royal FloraHolland's data committee.

The audit, conducted by IT audit & consultancy firm Noordbeek, focused on the period from 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2023. The 2021 and 2022 audits had already confirmed the effectiveness of the measures we had previously taken to ensure the data confidentiality of Floriday users. This was re-examined in the 2023 audit. This year, the newly developed Exporter module was also assessed. We also investigated whether transaction data used in commercial data services is not traceable to an individual grower or buyer.

Audit for strictly confidential data and transaction data

The audit looked at strictly confidential data in Floriday and non-public transaction data in Royal FloraHolland. Strictly confidential data includes information that only the relevant grower and buyer have access to, such as contracts and consumer price stickers. Non-public transaction data includes data from direct trade.

"Security and non-traceability of data guaranteed"

André van der Linden, CIO Royal FloraHolland, says: "The audit again established that strictly confidential data is not shared outside Floriday and is only accessible to a limited group of Floriday support staff who need it for their roles. This year, the audit has been further expanded to examine the non-traceability of transaction data. This also established that transaction data is not traceable. It is nice to see confirmation that the Information Policy and measures taken earlier are effective. Growers and buyers can indeed count on confidential handling of their data."

Data committee monitors policy compliance

The data committee, set up to discuss and evaluate Royal FloraHolland's Information Policy, commissioned the audit for the third time. The data committee consists of: Arno van der Maarel (Maarel Orchids), Vincent Zaal (FM Group), buyer representation (vacant), Steef de lange (Nolina), Theun Faber (Faber Bloementransport BV), Erik Beulen (Professor and data expert), André van der Linden (RFH) and Remco Wilting (RFH).

Arno van der Maarel, member of the Data Committee, stated: "During this year's extension of the audit, we as a data committee were able to observe that in addition to the proper shielding of strictly confidential data in Floriday, the use of transaction data is also not traceable to individuals. Data integrity is thus guaranteed and 100% secure. In short, a great achievement and this provides confidence for the future."
